The Hicks Foundation’s

Allison started The Hicks Foundation in 2006 with a clear mission: eradicate cervical cancer in the State of Vermont. Allison is the first cervical cancer survivor in the country to create a non-profit that specifically works to prevent cervical cancer by meeting the educational and medical needs of women.

In just a three short years, The Hicks Foundation has truly blossomed.  Here are some of our key accomplishments:

• Partnered with local health care providers to launch our ‘Free Screening Days’, which offer free medical care to hundreds of Vermont women.
• Partnered with state and local advocates to successfully secure state funding for the HPV vaccine.
• Designed and sponsored education programs that help women attain and maintain education and health care services to prevent HPV and cervical cancer.
  

The Hicks Foundation, and Allison personally, have received state, national and international recognition for advocacy on behalf of cervical cancer prevention. We have appeared on many local television and news outlets as well as CNN. 

• In 2006, Allison was honored by the Vermont State Legislature with a resolution for her work.
• The City of Burlington, Vermont declared January 20, 2007 the Allison Hicks Free Cervical Cancer Screening Day.  
• In November 2008, Allison was honored with a Women In Government's Presidential Leadership Award at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington DC. 
• Allison has been asked to speak in May 2009 in Santiago, Chile at the Global Summit of Women for their Campaign to eradicate cervical cancer. Allison will represent The United States as a cervical cancer survivor, patient advocate and leader in the importance of access to cervical cancer screening and prevention services.
